I am about to offer to special magic students some exciting news. Live and over the internet using video conference technology - private magic lessons. Not only does my lecture have good practical stuff Billy McComb said, when I performed the cups and balls he told me he could not see the loads. Growing up as the son of one of the great working professional magicians in Chicago was an interesting thing. In other words in the town where I grew up there were not any kids that had a dad that appeared as a magician on television shows like Ed Sullivans Toast of the Town. Later named the Ed Sullivan show! While growing up in show business I met a lot of great performing magicians. Jay Marshall, Jack Kodell, Tony Marks, Buddy Farnan, and Jim Ryan. One of my mentors was called the punch deck pro and his name was Jack Pyle! Jack Pyle (pictured above) used to perform a stand up act of magic and closed with producing a large rabbit. However when he did close up magic his only prop was a deck of cards. He looked like a magician gambler and his act was card effects including a running gag with the card to pocket and card to wallet. And he performed poker and bridge deals. He often closed with a bridge deal with a shuffled deck and became known in magic as the punch deck pro! Below

rewritten) (Comb Bound Book) my complete system of how to use the Dai Vernon
Triumph shuffle to control cards, stack poker hands, cull poker
hands and cold cull stack the four aces from a shuffled deck of
cards.
This book also includes a neat marking system and my way of doing a Challenge cutting to the aces (on the fly) from a new and shuffled deck of cards. A spectator from the audience can shuffle the deck between each cut. When the magician shuffles the deck and then challenge cuts the spectator in a game of cutting to the high card the magician cuts to each ace in turn. As in the "real" description (from the Scarne book the odds against me) of the Scarne routine the spectators can "free" shuffle the deck between each cut. I often call this routine Another look at Scarnes Aces. This is a routine I do in my act and it has stood the test of time over the years as being one of the great ways that I use to cut to the aces cold from a new and shuffled deck of cards.

deal that was on my DVD-1. This DVD also has on it my two hops
that I use to null the cut just before I deal out a demonstration
hand for five hands.

three card Monte routine I do for the lay audience. I teach the
way I do the crimped corner - plus my three ten ending where the
three bent cards change into three tens. Also I teach the one
hand toss or one handed hype on this DVD as well as my complete
shell game routine. Plus some never published moves that feature
a new shell steal that has never been published before.

Bishop Punch Deck Pro Two (DVD-9) This is my second DVD on the
punch deck or the punch deal. More magic poker routines using the
punch deck and my scissor bottom deal. I also talk about the
"reverse" punch. Plus I added my Northfork shuffle to
the DVD. A neat culling idea that works with the table riffle shuffles to get a hand to the bottom of the
deck for a demonstration of card cheating in a magic show!

manuscript has everything that I do and use in my own work of
doing shows on the punch deal. Routines with culling - culling
and stacking - Jack Pyle's ideas on his bridge deal including his

the Northfork Shuffle and other ideas using my scissor bottom
deal and a lot more.
What was new for 2010? Just a DVD on card palming. Including the routine my dad used to use in his close up and stand up work that was published by Dai Vernon in the stars of magic called The Travelers. This includes his business card wallet idea for card to wallet as a climax to the routine. Also on the DVD is the card under the drink or ashtray. Performed several times it becomes a running gag. Several ideas for card to pocket and also card to deck box are also on this DVD. The palms I teach on this DVD are the Erdanse bottom palm, the one handed top palm, the gamblers cop and it's uses, and a few more like my double cut palm I use for card to envelope. I am happy to say that I sold out of the signed and numbered quota of these palming DVDs as well.
What will be new for 2011 or 2012? Just a DVD on Bishops Best. This DVD is not about my magic routines although some of my ideas will be included. This DVD is about my Dads routines. His knotted silk routine, sponge ball routine, the classic rope tie, tips on the misers dream, the stand up magic he did to make a living in magic for 60 years or more. Plus his thoughts on Erdnase and how he used the Erdnase second and bottom deal as a follow-up routine to the Travelers. The classic Dai Vernon card effect that was in the Stars of magic. Included will be his way of doing the Travelers plus his business card wallet card to wallet ending. This DVD will not be sold or advertised from this web site.
